On The Mend
December 29th, 2008
I drove a car today for the first time in almost a week. That feels like freedom to me.
It has been almost six whole days since I took my spill and even the typing is becoming a little bit easier. You best look out. I might start writing those long boring posts again. Heaven have mercy.
My wife dropped the kids at the airport this morning about 4:00 AM. I had not tried to drive yet or I might have done it myself. As it was the drive I took was only a short trip to the bank.
I think I am going to get an x-ray taken of my arm tomorrow. The swelling is greatly reduced but it still is a fright to look at. The kids helped in the cooking and my wife, as always, took great care of me. I am quite anxious to get back into my routine. Why is it always so much easier to help someone as opposed to accepting help from someone else?
I do have one serious injury to report. My favorite coffee cup has a crack in it. This cup always reminds me of the many years we lived in North Carolina. Pilot Mountain is a wonderful place to visit. I have spent hours there watching the vultures and ravens circle the knob. The geological formation is referred to as a monadnock and it is a powerful image against the Carolina blue sky. The place always seemed magical to me.
It’s nice to know that my arm is going to last longer than the cup.
Happy New Year

There are people who are from the South. There are people from PA. The others we don’t give a damn about. Cheers, my friend.
